Anywhere I (1/5 newbie) can find instructions on the best way to change the layshaft? I want to put on the 16 tooth. Thanks.

Remove engine first mate, undo the screws under the chassie and then undo the 3 screws on the diff brace and remove throttle linkage and brake linkage from carb, take engine out and remove grub scews from your lay gear and remove gear then install new 1 and locktight grub screws back in, make sure you line engine up with diff and use a peace of card to get correct mesh, then install all engine mount screws and diff mount screws with locktight and refit linkages , job done.

hope this helps .

Brad.

or you can remove the rear diff, 4 scres underneath and 1 screw to remove the brace up top underneath carby and you can get to the layshaft gear that way.

undo the layshaft setscrews, undo the brake carrier setscrews and slide the whole shebang towards the spur so you have enough room to slide it out. the reverse to install. don't forget to loktite those setscrews again

I just want to say thanks to you all. Changed the layshaft over the weekend and this thing is amazingly fast (already went 18/46 on the other gears). Definitely loss of bottom end but with the DDM mid/high pipe it wakes up in the mids. Now i need to work on the bottom end. THANKS AGAIN!!!
