I agree that it is vary bias.
I did send them a email about my failure cy junk..3 gallons only tore it down for a inspection an presto.

Makes interesting reading if a little biased. I know of a few guys that have run 2 bolt CY's that had plating problems, these were stock motors i.e. no porting done yet they failed.

I believe the plating problems were sorted. I am now running a fully ported race tuned 4 bolt Zenoah without issue using a 50:1 mix ratio of a high performance Oil that was designed for high power water cooled racing kart engines and comes recommended by the engine builder. Time will tell if this stands the test but I do believe that ring changes are the key to keeping your engine in tip top condition.
 
i had a new cy 26cc motor lasted 2tanks and the liner fell to bits, i,am not saying there all like this but they can be hit or miss. since then i,ve had a zen, 23 grc and not had any problems easy to tune runs very well .

what a mess! I have a cy head,4 months old,many hours of use but no problems,i haven't checked the cylinder yet,maybe i should,it was from ddm,i hope they sorted this problem b4 i got mine 4 months ago,the zen 23 head that i took off was years old, it was in great condition,not a mark on it!
 
The funny thing is I keep hearing they have the plating issue sorted years ago but my mill was a last year vintage.lol I wonder what scale they are using for the year count....dog years maybe..lol

still know feed back from cy usa...but not exspecting one either,but thats my opion..lol
 
ive heard from a few sources that CY has improved their game, however for the small price diff I will always use Zen, had such a great run with their stuff I wouldnt change anytime soon.

Number One Seller Chung Yang or Zenoah?

Who sells more engines, Chung Yang or Zenoah? Reliable sources say that Chung Yang sells more engines “Worldwide” than Komatsu Zenoah in the single cylinder 22 to 30cc category. Chung Yang also has more variations and part numbers of these engines than any other company in this market. In this sense, Chung Yang is Number One.

Chung yang sell the most allegedly because they are cheaper in my opinion.

They also talk about plating issues saying it will happen when they are modded? I have had several modded Zen's with no problems but four CY's with problemed plating(standards)

I think i will stick to the Zen as a reliable mill.

As you say Voo volume sales aren't everything.
I have both now (Zen 26cc std / CY 26.9 DDM ported head) so it will be interesting to see how they compare on performance, reliability & longevity. How good is the DDM porting?

I don't know if DDM do their own port jobs but all the 25.4cc mills I have bought(Zen) are spot on mate,never had a problem with them.

Scott Finlay 4 bolt Zenoah 29.4 with porting done by Scott, fitted with a 990 carb. It has matched head and crank pinned for alignment, race ignition and is dynoed on the MMR dyno at 7hp with the CPI side pipe fitted, it makes slightly more power with the Samba 4 power pipe when at it's peak (around 13,000 rpm) but the CPI makes more linear power throughout therefore produces better power low down than the Samba plus the CPI fits the V4 without modification and it revs out slightly higher.

He spends his time working for MMR part time but mainly does minimoto and racing kart engines. He also did all the porting designs on the new Bizeta motors that MMR will be selling. MMR hold the world speed record for a minimoto at something like 80mph!!!

All up with the red race ignition it set me back £460. all dialled in and ready to fit to the V4 chassis (hence it was all machined out underneath to accommodate the centre rear drive shaft).

Have to say the established UK engine builders such as Oddified and stEVO don't seem to like him but Alro thinks he does good work as do many of the American tuners from what I have been told. All I can say is the engine produces incredible low down grunt and revs out at approx. 19,000 which for a 29.4 is not bad.
