Are you guys washing your MT's with a hose, after running in the rocks and some water the lime dust turned to concrete but I din't want to hose it off, but know I'm thinking I should have and sprayed it down with WD40. :(
 
I usually wipe everything down firsts with a old rag and get into the cracks with small brusher then blow off the rest with my compressor then lastsly wipe everything down with a clean rag sprayed with wd-40 never spray it with water you can ruin servos and electronics doing that :)
 
i stayed away from the hose. i use a large bin and lots of wd-40, with an old paint brush and a little air from the compressor. i would re-use the wd-40. simple green also works well, but water with out useing a "water disperser" (wd) is not good.
 
For me it really depends on how dirty the car is:


1) Mud caked on where the car feels like 40 pounds: I won't even touch this untill the car sits overnight and the mud had dried. Then, I'll break it off and proceed to #2.


2) Dirt that won't wipe off or cannot be blown off with a compressor:: This is where I use tire cleaning foam. I buy the generic tire foam from Advanced Auto Parts for about $2. One can can cover a 1/5 scale at least 3 times heavily. I completely cover the car, let the foam disolve, and then blow it off with a compressor. Almost all the dirt will blow right off with the foam. Then, I'll come in with simple green to get the rest of the dirt off.


3) Dust can can be brushed off or blown off: Well brush it and/or blow it off :) . If I'm not going to run the car in the next 12 hours I will spray it with tire foam and blow it off. It makes all the plastic look like new again. After a good 12+ hours the residue is no longer sticky where dust/dirt will stick to it. If you don't have a compressor do not do this. You need a compressor to blow it off where it's so thin that it's not sticky when it dries.
 
electronics out,tires off, simple green, and in the basement sink it goes. blow it off,wd40 everything, electroincs back in. thats if its real bad. if it a little dirty i do the same thing with the servos in and im just carefull with the water. i run my truck in rain snow and mud so it gets wet anyway and have never had a servo burn out. not saying it cant happen and its ok to drown them but never had a problem yet on any of my trucks. as for concrete i would disassemble as needed

I've never had a servo go out from being wet either. I've hosed my car off plenty of times too. I have buddies that pull the radio box and then pressure wash their cars without a problem.


I know HiTec servos have orings on all the case joints. The only place where you might have a problem is letting water in around the spline.
 
I've just been using Nitro Cleaner. Not the stuff in the the metal can, it is this pinkish/puplish clear container (like a windex bottle) with a squirter nozzle at the top. You hit your truck with that, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, and then in a seperate bottle you add warm water and squirt it off. Dirt flys off with that stuff.


As for the little nooks and crannies that my method can't get to, I address that with pipe cleaners, or a little wire brush. The pink bottle I believe is made by O'donnel, they sell it at my LHS.


I'll try the simple green mentioned above though
