just put in a fresh Zenoah 270RC engine 2 weeks ago roughly about 3 tanks ive used so far and already my clutch has no more friction pads on both shoes. this also occured on my previous motor Zenoah 260RC is this normal?

:no:No it is definately not normal,,,,,,,I'm only on my second set of shoes in over 18 months.
And my engine is not what you would call a slug,,,,

Are you running in sand by any chance?

Is inside the clutch bell smooth or rough?

Gears/ drive shafts/ brakes or bearings binding?

What brand of shoes are they?????

Not well up on clutches but could it be in need of new springs???? If its slipping it will wear the pads in no time.

clutch

no i don't run them on sand but i did run it on the snow could have the same affect? the clutch shoes is the original Zenoah with heavy spring

+1 dwarfy.. While you are changing the clutch spring, maybe upgrade to the red 8000 rpm one.. It's a nice little spring.

clutch issues

yes i put on the red spring but with my 4WD conversion kit it did also come with a blue color spring is that better?

high what s your gear ratio i had the same problem with my fg 4wd are you using the mt combo if so you cant use the original 2wd combo as this will wear the clutch pads down very quick what you need is the 15t gear wheel with the 48t this is mentioned in the 4wd kit manual or the mt the rest of the combos are still the same only the mt is different
also you will need to clean the clutch bell blow it out with a compressor
and the blue spring wasn't delivered with the kit for nothing are you still using the original spring then you need to change it for the blue ok
let us know if that helps

currently running 18/46 gears with 8k rpm clutch spring i did remember reading on the 4WD assembly manual to use 15/48 combo with the provided blue spring wouldnt it affect the propare gear mesh? contribute to my clutch issue is my gear plate bearings are bad and the spring also no good changed all that and im gunna give this another try and if it does same problem ill go with what the manual recommend

no the 4wd mt 15t 48t combo with the blue spring should not affect the mesh this is has gone threw rigorous trials at the fg factory hence one of the reasons why it took fg so long with the 4wd version
oh and what wheels are you using if your using the baja size wheels i would still recommend the blue spring that came with the kit
do you have still the stock gear plate as well if so you will be needing the alloy gear plate and engine mount these thing are a must or you will tinkering with bearings for ever gear plate gets to hot plastic will melt bearings will move about easley throwing everything out of line possibly causing the quick wear on the clutch

well then you will need to go back to you stock set up then your problem will be solved 15t 48 t mt wheels and the 18t 46t if im correct for the stadium set up

clutch

i know need to sort this problem out or my local hobby shop will run out clutches :-)... yap 2WD MT uses 16/48 gear combo but the 4WD conversion did mentioned to use 15/48 combo don't know why but iff all still goes bad ill try the weird combo as FG stated

mucker just use the 15t 48t with the mt wheels like fg says to use and no other way

It might be weird but I bet they spent a fortune on R & D to come up with it so it must work. I would go with it rather than wasting time with other ratios. At least it will run right & if you want to change it after that you have the right bits to hand if your new ideas don't quite work as you intend. JMO!
