Clutch Pads

How much run time are folks getting with the stock pads? I barely got 4 tanks through my MT and pads just gave out today in mid jump too! Landed and no go- just engine rev.

Depends where you are running. Sand and light dirt are killers on the standard clutch. Alof of people go with Elcon for the sand.

Thanks for the reply, I was looking at that elcon clutch as well as this http://www.davesmotors.com/store/product1922.html one, has anyone had any experince with it in the baja or the redcat mt/buggy?

Elcon seems to be more popular.

I run the Elcon in my Baja and Rampage. Love em! Hardly any wear on the one in my Baja after several months of use. Can also adjust the engagment point. I also installed the upgraded titanium front plate with the one in my Rampage. I also have another ti plate that I still need to install in the Baja. I have heard of a few people saying the original front plate can crack.

If you can't afford the aftermarket clutches yet, then another trick on a budjet is to turn the clutch over but make sure you run the HPI red spring. to get the RPMs back up there.

My clutches are in backwards in both my engines. I have 5 tanks through the engine in my rampange and the only wear on that clutch came from the brakes dragging. There is at least 3/4 of the pad left.
