As I’m sure everyone who has used the hpi air filter knows the stock linkage setup won’t work. I switched the t/p and steering around thought that would work but the horn on the brake side still hits the filter. Question is if I drilled a hole in the horn about where the f in the picture is and then cut the horn shorter would it still apply enough pressure to make the brakes work. Don’t really know how much it takes. I've got a couple more but I've got to run out for a while so I'll get back to you guys shortly. sorry and thanks

Yea I read the thred about the stack but don't have one right now. If you read any of my other posts then you know I have a limited amount of play cash. She's not blind. anyways in the other pics you can see that I just got the ddm dom pipe to replace the junk redcat pipe that I was running. One or two things at a time or whatever I can get away with. You can see from the pics that one good slam on that pipe and it was meiting the cover on the motor and the roll cage. The other thing I was wondering about was as long as I was working on the truck I took the cover off the motor just to check the head bolts well come to find that under the cover is packed with grass and other crap. I wonder if you trimmed the cover back enough to just leave a strip to hold the kill button and the spark plug gromet if it wouldn't help keep that from happening and let more air in to cool the motor. Has anyone done this if not why not.

That top cover is like an air duct. It directs the forced air created by the flywheel though the cooling fins on the head. You would loose some cooling ability. However, there are all the billet heads out there that don't use a cover. The cast head that comes on the HY probably can't dissipate heat as well as a billet head. I would not do it.

Thats what I was thinking. Does this help cooling?
The air from the flywheel helps cooling. Leaving some on might like in th photo not hinder it though. It would be easier to clean out the grass.

For me it would also get rid of the ugly melted side of the cover. Should have paid heed to what everybody had to say about the redcat pipe. Thing is I only paid 39 bucks for it and it did wake the engine up. Seemed like a good deal at the time. Maybe I'll clean it up and hang it on the tree this xmas!
