Got a call from Wells Fargo Fraud Protection this morning. Overnight there were 3 questionable online purchases, totaling more then $1000 against my Visa account. Wells Fargo denied the charges. I verified I didn't place them, and now that Visa card is DEAD. Still a PITA, there are recurring bills I pay and now I need to contact everyone giving them the new billing info when I receive the new card.

But, I DIDN'T GET BURNED!

Make sure there is Fraud Protection on your accounts, and DON'T USE A DEBIT CARD FOR ONLINE PURCHACES or at a gas pump! Nothing like going into the AMPM for coffee and doughnuts on the way to work, and finding the account has been emptied!

If, at all possible, use PayPal to protect yourself online.

They call you every time you make a purchase? I would think that would get annoying in a hurry

I have two cards from two different banks. I had a card shut down while travelling because the bank thought it had been stollen. That sucked! Now, if one card stops working i have a back up

I use a debit card for all my purchases. I have only had one short run of questionable purchases in multiple years and purchases of having my card. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OFF FACEBOOK, that's how they got me. I apparently went to Magic Mountain in Cali and was halfway through buying Netflix. The funny thing about that was the card and myself were at home and unaware during the whole thing. I caught it before it got any worse, after answering a few questions, was refunded the money by my bank. I also lucked out and didn't get burned on the deal. Did I mention I love my bank. :D
