Well you've got a good start.
I hear you on the cash situation, I've barely got enough money to keep one Baja going!

nice i love the black engine whats that coated with, they do orange by anychance

Was thinking that too ren, I have some VHT paint i used to paint a scooter exhaust with got it from good ol Halfords was thinking of painting my engine with it but not sure hoe it will hold up! I should imagine it would be ok as its designed to paint car manifolds. The one i have is mettalic black i know they do other colours i have also seen candy coloured ones on ebay so you can do a black or silver base coat and have like an electric candy like blue and other colours.

The problem with painting an engine after its been run is getting it nice and clean and removing any oxidation from all the fins etc. If this is not done the paint wont stick well and will flake off over time. so next rebuild with new parts get to it. VHT should work well on new parts if cleaned properly and first.

Yes its VHT black matt paint.

I give it a good prep then heated it up with
a heat gun then sprayed the paint..

It needs to be warm before you can paint or
it wont stick very well..

Andy

I may be 100% wrong on this but if you paint things like your engine or brake drums/calipers on a car, doesn't it affect the way it disipates the heat?

Yes your correct but ive made sure its a really light coat of paint..

Ive seen engines on here that have been powder coated etc so i don't
think a small amount of paint will harm it.

Looking really good Andy, im glad you stuck with the hpi rather than those crappy losi's 5ive t :lol:
