Hi guys
I'm bored and have been thinking what parts I can make myself for my car.(any make/model)

lets have a look at your home made custom parts..just modifications or standard replacements..
so far I have made an alloy radio tray...but I want to make more.

nice stuff, i think someone should build and sell steel/alloy roll cages for the FG, unless you make them yourself no one seems to offer them ???

I've got to be honest, I think they would add too much weight for very little reward, plus if there was a big crash I think they would just bend instead of flex like the plastic one will.

I'm not keen on the MR Racing products frame on the first pic of this thread.

heres a few shots of my alloy hpi baja undertray/sidepods

Mike the cage came with the car and I know no different but I know what you mean ...any force has to be dissipated through other parts...But I also think the stronger and more rigid the less likely for damage on the minor bumps

Rossco.. the parts are looking well smart..I'm also waiting to get my hands on a milling machine..already got the lathe and other gear..Also need to get a load of alloy start making the bits...

GLYNSAVAGE the side pods look smart..

ANYBODY ELSE MAKING BITS ??????

i started off making chromemoly tube cages for my old rampages about 4-5 yrs ago and a natural progression (for me) ended up in the making of the rig in my avatar

it's great to see peoples home made mods and the approach etc used to achieve them, usually with basic hand tools, materials that are on hand and lots of lateral thinking...there's nothing more satisfying than to have made something yourself that works as intended, beats buying stuff any day

I would love to have the skills to weld my self a cage for my fg, I've got the facilities for sheet metal work just not the welding!! The cages people have produced in this thread are impressive!!
