Hey guys I have kind of an odd one for you, My Redcat has been broken for a while now so I have been running my FG MT for now, heres the wierdo question after about 3 tanks it started running way lean and no amount of needle setting would fix it. I had to actually turn the choke on about 2/3rds and it would run great so I figured that something had made it's way to the carb so I pulled it apart and completely went through cleaning all the jets and making sure they were open and free. I then reassembled the carb with new gaskets and put it all back together with a clean filter and went back out. To my amazement the thing still wont run without being choked at about 2/3rds, and then it runs great!!! no lag, no smoke, and all the power. I don't understand please help, the carb is a walbro 605. thanks guys and if I could run my Redcat I wouldn't even be fooling with my FG.

IMO slap a new carb on it, and make sure the pulse port is not restricted.


I had a 603 on my DS engine The petals on the pump were frayed and not pumping properly: DSFailure020.webp


Check the filter/clunk to make sure it is not restricted.


Make sure fuel tank vent is clear.


Check the cylinder to make sure the cylinder didn't get damaged.


Maybe check the coil gap.


I hope this all helps.
 
Check for a blown head gasket, and check all other gaskets while your at it. With the engine running at an idle, carefully spray some carb cleaner around the base of the head, and around other gasket areas. If the engine revs up, that is where the gasket is bad.
 
You are on the right path you do have a air leak but it may not be in the carb. Take a good look at you base cyl gasket look for wetness craks and blow outs in it. If not there check your fuel tank and check for leaks around the rubber grommet.

thanks for the posts guys I will be checking today if it helps. I really wish I could just get the parts for my rage and play with that one. Anybody want an FG MT for cheap? ;)
 
Hey I'm serious I would trade my FG MT for another redcat anything in about half a heartbeat!! after running the redcat for the short time I had it was great!! Also another question which fuel inlet line on the carb is the feed and which is the return??? I just wanted to make sure that the filter is on the right side.

I do!!! I do!!! how cheap? (Sorry I am new here, but I have been on Largescale for years.) What kind of condition and what's been done to it? I want to get another one for the lil lady...
