I searched but did not find an answer so I’m sorry if this has been discussed. I run deans connectors on most of my rc. I was wanting to switch the XLE over to them but was concerned about their small size compared to the stock ones. I also was curious what that third wire running to the middle of the plug was for? Thanks guys for the input ?

I’m not familiar with the deans connector as I’m new to R.C. myself.

The third smaller wire on a dbxl-e is the smart tech battery connector. You don’t need to worry about it if your not using smart batteries.

don't use those Dean's connectors. This draws too many amps for a Dean's to work for long. An ic5 should be minimum what you using. I prefer the castle polarized connectors (8mm version) myself. But thats personal preference. As said ignore the skinny wire. It's a spektrum gimmick. Just adds to the cost of their batteries. Not any real worth imo.

Thanks for the info on the third wire. I was hoping to hear people say they had no issue with the deans. After spending so much on RC I was trying to save a few bucks by not switching over all my connectors.

Ya, You all have me figured out. I’m an old school guy that remembers the awe full Tamia connectors and the deans were such an improvement over those. Technology sure has changed though and I guess I better adopt a better connector too.
so the xt90’s are pretty much the best option going forward. Thank you guys for the help.

I personally use Castle or XT90 connectors on all my 1/5 scale vehicles. Now Dean connectors are only for 1/10, 1/12, 1/16, 1/18 scale vehicle because of not so much power going through it. Do your research right or your 1/5 scale will NOT last long as it WILL be a time bomb with Dean connectors on 8s 10s 12s :ROFLMAO:?
