Hey Guys,

question for you, i have seen a couple of XB's with the DDM side mount pipe on them.

my question is do you have to cut the body up to mount this pipe on the xb, and also is there a decent amount of ground clearance since the pipe dips down towards the end ?

another question, has anyone mounted a 3mm stroker motor with the cylinder base plate , this raises the exaust and intake locations just a tick and may or may not affect the cage as far as fitment. ( i know it fits the baja 5b but it does make for a slight mod )

i have a very nasty , custom 1 off Flowsystem 27.2cc motor that Eric built for me, and i'm thinking about dropping the beast in my XB

thanks for your help

i modded a ddm pipe for a 5-b to fit the xb.- this mod uses the jet-pro stock header- can change from jet-pro rear mount pipe to ddm pipe with out messing with the header- takes about 5 minutes.- check this photo out- this carb butterfly mod gives big results off the bottom- midrange- its for the wt 813. - its on a cy29.- gotta wonder what it would do for the 36cc engine thats for sale- i cannot buy this engine for a while- i bought a gas mig welder 2 weeks ago-- yea, the ddm pipe is a side mount now for the xb.

I wish I knew as well. I'm still holding off on a pipe for my XB I want a side dom, but I don't wanna cut up my Grafil body just to mount it.

Ive got a 5mm LR in my XB, its alittle close near the primer bulb and near the plug...ill see if i can dig up a pic.

This is the best pic I have, and keep in mind its a 5mm LR.

man that looks like a DT1 filter ??

man be super vigilant keeping an eye on that set up in fine dusty or sandy conditions..

a couple of baja guys have eatin' motors using them

just a heads up amigo.

lots of hot engines out there-- the ddm 5-b rear mount i modded will fit outside the factory body on the xb. Ever dug for the mighty gooey duct?- they have these on the washington state coast- ya gotta dig real quick to catch these fellas- the necks can extend darned near 3 feet outta the shell- Alfred has jokes about these clams and red snappers- crude jokes.

I run the dt-1 filters in total talcum consistentcy dust- 2 stage- when it gets this bad I use Maxima fft filter oil- soak the filter in a baggie- use a lint free towel to remove as much of the oil as i can- inside and outside surfaces of the filter- no scarring on the jug so far-- in lesser conditions- i use no-toil.-

this is the homemade pipe.- bought it during ddms sale. crappy brazing- but- its air tight! - have since turned the pressure down on the aceteline and oxygen- hooked up an old victor jewelury-spelling-aggg- torch with flash back arestors- torch mount.- no more running after the molten puddle.- yes, its a butt joint and yes bronze weakens with heat- so far-so good- noteven a wet spot on the joint.- use the pipe to rest my knee on when i pull the rip cord.- the photo- this was before i brazed up 2 small mounts on the belly of the pipe.

Hmm looks like he moved one of the rear cage mounts forward, trimmed a side guard and bolted two angle aluminum pieces to the chassis so the stock mounting hardware could be used.....wow run on sentence!

If it was me. I would add a coupler in the straight section to help space the pipe back a half inch and then mount it. That should give you plenty of clearance for the body and cage.
