DDM V2 PIPE / KM 23cc?

I have a brand new DDM V2 pipe that is 1/4" to short to snug up to the engine. Do I remove the spring on top of the pipe and just use the coupler that comes with it? It looks like it has a good 1" of play if the spring was off. Has anybody else have this problem?

install the exhaust header then the pipe and spring. i have the rear dom v2 on my baja (genuine) and mine is like that.
 
Thankyou so very much. I went and did what you said to do and it worked. How hard is it going to be to put the spring back on? That is a good stretch for that spring. The pipe only slides on maybe 1/8". Did you use the rubber coupler on yours? I think I am going to have to so it doesn't leak. Thanks
