Hi guys,

I was running my FG Baja yesterday and after a minute of running the engine went dead. I could fire it up once but after a minute again the engine stopped. I removed the carb and it looks like the engine gets no fuel. I did not adjust the high and low speed needles. I think the problem is in the carb. I checked the spark plug and held it against the engine to see if it sparkles and it did.. Tomorrow I get the WT813 carb to replace the standard wt603 carb. I hope this solves my problem but if that doesn't work what else could it be?
It isn't flooded since the pullstart is going light when pulling.

try a new plug. sometimes a plug can be in limbo between running fine, and fouling out.

i ve had a paritally fouled plug act like that.

i had that fault turned out to be the vent hole in the petrol tank cap was blocked, causing the tank to vacaum and starv the motor of fuel.

If it was the same as mine, the wrist pin cir-clip came off and bounced around my engine destroying my top end.But thats the extreme, its probably a simple fault.Have you looked at the stop button to see if its stuck?

Update on my engine

Guys,

I have the 813 carb installed and it didn't work. We've dismantled the entire engine and found the piston ring not moving freely. This was probably caused by overheating. This also resulted in a light scratched surface of the cylinder and piston cause the piston scratched the surface. We managed to loosen the ring so it movies freely again. We tried to start the engine with the stock "pipe" and the 813 but it was flooded so I turned the jets all the way. It started and run for a few seconds but died then due to lack of gasoline. We bolted engine again in the car and put the DDM dom pipe again on the engine. I turned the L needle 1 1/8 turns open and the H needle 1 1/8 turn open. We primed the engine and took lots of pulls to start. The engine revs high and then dies again. IT only start when it primed and then dies. Are my jets/needles set correct or not? Or is this because of the slightly scratched surface of the cylinder?

Open the needles to L 1 1/4 and H 1 3/8. and try again. These are the stock settings. Your settings at the moment are a bit lean. Does it keep running if you rev it? If so you may have to adjust your idle screw as well.

Thanks Dwarfy but It didn't help. It goes very heavy to pull the pullstart and feels like it is scraps metal from somewhere. I dismantled the engine again and have to buy a new cylinderset I think. It won't start anymore also.

Sounds like its fooked  Are you replacing like for like or going for a big bore kit?

+1 on the mag i had this a while back touching the flywheel and scraping noise engine will run even if scored it will just run poor and lack power

I replaced the gaskets today because the problem is that there is no bottompower so there is no fuel coming in the engine. This is caused by the damage. I am gonna order a 29cc Pitshop power head engine kit (http://www.pitstop-shop.nl/ part 00148/6). This givers me 4.2BHP @19.500rpm.

Thats cheap mate, try DDM as well he's always got a good deal on.
