Well finally decided to purchase the 002 through Dan this morning. I can't wait to tear up the dirt with this baby. I am making a list of to do items and this is what I have so far...
• locktite all screws not on the engine
• Check the Carb settings( how many turns out?)
• Check the diff fluid.
• Buy some spare rims...
• Buy a screw kit.
What else should I add to this list?

Most people like to ugprade the electronics. I did, and am happy with the results.

Congrats on the purchase. I also purchased a 002 from Dan, and am very pleased!

on loctite, remember red is for bolts that heat will be on them, engine etc.. blue for anything else metal to metal bolt to a metal frame, etc....

standard staring point on the carb needles has beenmentioned quite a bit in the km section,

a couple other things you might consider is going ahead right now and get a spare PS. one with the collar molded onto the rope wheel. it guides the pawl in and out, and keeps it from cockin sideways like so many do and bending the retainer washer on ps itself. theyre all over ebay if you look for pullstarts, just choose one with the collar around the pawl.

possibly a outerwears for the filter at least, maybe the PS too. i have one on my filter but not the ps, i need to get one myself for mine.

lol yah they are good idea if you do jumping. or even have nasty high speed rollovers, the hubs can break out of wheels. ive been fortunate not to have any high speed rollovers, and i don't do any monster jumps with mine, still running original wheels so far.

I spun mine around in the street and even at low speed when it hit the curb it broke the hub out of the center of the wheel, The weight on these things is hard on those parts.

I know I have barrel rolled, endoed, cart wheeled ect my t max at full speed with no damage, but it weighs a lot less.

So I fixed my pull start and put my new wheel on and promptly broke the one on the other side. Lol, spare set if wheels is wise! Or don't hit curbs.

I haven't had any issues with mine. They were the white nylon wheels. They are now orange. I had had a few hard crashes and nothing. I did break two of my inner bead locks though. They were pretty flimsy. Upgraded to some heavy duty hpi.

Are the new 002 rims as brittle as the 001 rims?

But what about the new 002 rims?

Mine are the 2.0 wheels (I have the 2.0). Inner and outter beadlocks are aluminum and I have had no problem with those, the center hub of the wheel just broke out on both of them. Ran it for a while today and didnt hit any curbs so I'm good again. lol

i think i seen a youtube tutorial on how to make your own reinforcing rings on whatever wheel you have if theyre not already there, sounded pretty easy to do.
