I am going to seal diff case with gasket paste and put some thick oil in diff case instead of grease.


What you think?
 
What type of oil you use?

Does oil leaks from diff box?

Have you aluminum or stock plastic diff box?

How you sealed?

why not use oil if sealed properly...

Grease may not touch gears after some while, it will splash on case and stay there.

He is not talking IN the diff, he is talking outside the diff where the ring and pinion gears meet in the outer diff case. Silly putty there will not be good:D
 
Grease will work just fine I use boat grease which has a high spin hold and when I do change the diffs there is always grease on the outside gears.

+1 ... I use 'Green Grease' on my boat drive shaft and in my diff cases.

Lucas red and tacky is also great for diffs
 
lucas red n tacky#2, +1 , just enough to fill gear gap on pinion and ring. a little dust intrusion is not an issue, avoid water!, a light wash or spray really not an issue, but flood would be the end pretty quickly.

it not an oil reservoir, it would never hold oil any where as state previously. the planetary gear case IS sealed and a variety of silicone fluids are choice for that.
