I can't find anywhere in my manual about diff fluid, can anyone help me on this. I need to know how to fill the diffs or if they just get grease.

Thanks:

The only way to drain and fill the diff is to take the crown gear off. Crack the diff open and clean it out. The factory puts some thick junk oil in it. Then fill the diff till the oil covers the spider gears half way. If you have a new seal, use it. If you don't, just clean off the old seal with a rag and apply a light coat of RTV silicone, just so it's tacky. Also, clean where the seal meets the case and the crown gear with some alcohol before you put it back together.

Thats the first post about a blown diff I have seen to this point. Do you know what caused it Randman? A few full throttle landings, or excessively long and punishing donuts maybe? Im just lookin to get a heads up on what it takes to do one in. I personally like to do donuts, but I know that they are hard on the diffs and if its gonna cause failure I need to slack off from doing them as often....... :D

When I rebuilt my rear diff I used some synthetic grease. When I opened it up it had grease in it so I went with Super Lube. I have had no problems with it since.

full throttle landings are harder on any rc... :)

i never toasted a diff from donuts on any scale...

I purchased this truck on ebay from a guy that said he was and engineer of some kind, all I know is he isn't a mechanical engineer I have found several things wrong with the truck. I thought the front diff blew until I pulled it apart today and found only one bearing on the pinion shaft, he left out the outer bearing so with the torque of the drive shaft the plastic housing finaly wore out and the pinion gear wouldn't mesh with the ring gear. So now I have to order a new housing and bearing, not as bad as I thought. Thanks for all the help on this as I am new to the RC world.
