I have a Dune Runner. Got it a week before Christmas. Broke the diff joint cup. This is the stock part 54023. Replaced it. Chalked it up to beginner stuff with RC. No big deal, right? A gas tank later, the exact same joint broke. It is the left rear wheel. It was in 2 wheel the second time because the CVD broke and I haven't ordered the replacement yet.

So this time I redneck heat treated the two cups that are in there. When reinstalling, I noticed in the schematic that they are supposed to have an O-ring and superfine washer. Mine does not. Does it really have that part or it just the drawing?

Anyone else had a similar issue? Does anyone have any suggestions on fixing it permanently?

So when you installed the diff cup the second time did you take the o ring and washer off from the stock diff cup? You will need the o ring and the washer yes its supposed to be there.

Had the same problem with my mt.broke 2diff cups 1 in front.1in rear.none of my diff cups had that thin shim washer .o rings were destroyed from diff cup pin.called redcat they told me if they didn't install the shim at the factory it didn't need it.What Crap is that?of coarse it needs it What keeps the pin from destroying the oring?had to buy 2 diff gear sets just to get 2 shims .they also said its not warrantyable.so$50 later i got 2shims.sorry 4 shims the other diff cups. Didn't have either.i believe its a factory build problem .bad quality control issues.check all your diff cups.maybe missing all around like mine.make sure you temper those cups.good luck but redcat factory support sux imo.that's why this forum Rocks.......

Also those orings don't come in the gear set.they come in diff housing set.my lhs had misc.orings that worked for about a buck..good luck...

Thanks for the help. Going to try to redcat. Will see what happens. I'm gonna try to make the washer out of shim stock if all else fails....

you could use a waffle washer for your shim.older cars have rear drum brakes, they have waffle washers holding the e brake lever on with a e clip.get a washer bend it flat and enlarge hole with file.washers are really thin just used to keep tension.any auto parts store should have these.i found these at work after buying 2 gear sets.works fine..also if you speak to aaron at redcat youll know what im talking about...hes just a tool for the company...

Well, another Redcat missing parts...maybe they should change the manual if they aren't gonna build em right.
