Has anyone locked the rear dif of their Mt or Tt. If so how did this change it's drive ability and was it of any benefit ? How did you lock it up? :D

I locked the rear diff in the 1/8 earthquake I used to own, the only difference i found was it was easy to do doughnuts, but I used that mostly on the road. to lock it i used hot glue, took the diff apart filled the gears with glue put it back togather voila posi. I saw it on you tube (devils reject) I beleive,

Would you lock a Mt considering the size of the tyres think it would put lots if strain on the drive line ie diff cups.

I personally wouldnt ,it would deffinitly put strain on the drivetrain I done it to the 1/8 cause I had the spare parts if it did break, but I sold it before anything happened, but with those big tires i would say the rear diff would blow up,but thats only my thoughts.

I have spare diff parts so I'm happy to try but if someone has done so already and it drove crap ie : wouldn t turn corners or only lasted 2 minutes I won't bother. Would hot glue be sufficient to lock a diff of this size?

Ya I tried silly putty too. Works great and can be removed easily if you wanna go back.

As far as performance goes you would lose alot of turning ability off throttle. You would actually have to punch the throttle in a turn to break the rear end loose and swing it around.

Would it be useless with Tyres as big as the Mt ones. And what is silly putty I'm sure we have a product the same in Australia just call it a different name? I haven't heard about silly putty being sold here. Thanks.
