Glad you asked, I'm not sure either. The monster trucks 1/8 scale I've owned I always use like 30+ thousand. The book that came with the V3 show diffs using 10K...I have read other posts guys using Truggy weight oil, like 7K front 5K rear...


I would like to hear a more knowledgeable opinion on the matter than my own. I realize it's a matter of how you drive and the terrain as well, but for a decent overall setup for turning and climbing.

Diff oils are very hard to convey correctly to most people, this is due to so many manufactures all making different viscosity oils but labeling them the same. For instance Losi 7k diff oil and Associated 7k diff oils are literally off the chart different but yet have the same labeled viscosity. My personal ramp I run 7k front losi oil and ofna 3k rear (very close to losi) and it seems to turn in and track great.
