Difficult decision ( long post)

Owned an fg marder years back.

And after quite some years running mini z and 1:8 and 1:10 I wanted a bigscale again.

Before Christmas I bought a losi dbxl e 2.0, and was impressed by the size and speed, and capability. It is fast, jumps great, it is planted.

And that might be part of the problem, it lacks some fun and playability that a rear wheel drive has. But it is still great fun to run it. Started upgrading it and have a ton of Taylor stuff laying around to install but I am starting to think that a different car would be a better choice.

I am eyeballing a kraken vesla.5 electric.
I think for some casual riding, bashing, and jumping I could fit great, maintenance wise also a bit easier, and way less wear on components. ( because there are way less)

Can’t decide if i need to push trough with the dbxl or trade it in on a vesla.

The dbxl is great, but the vesla could be some more fun.

By the way, running on 8 s mostly, if there wille be a vesla i would buy packs for 12 s but not soon and not for all the time.

Anyone some advise?

I have the vesla and DBXL ( both gas). Even though the DBXL is not the best platform Losi came up with it is still nicer than the Vesla and I can tell you first hand the Vesla will never take a beating like the DBXL will.

Beating in a way it can be driven, or crashes and accidents? The vesla looks like a sturdy platform tho.

The losi is a great looking rig and drives great, and if there are people who see it drive they almost always stop and watch and ask questions.

This is exactly why I sold my TLR 5ive-B. It will eventually be replaced by an HPI Baja 5b gasser.

There used to be 20+ of us that raced hpi bajas on my track. It was very fun. We broke them a lot, as they were all the very first release, but still fun. 2wd is more challenging for sure on a track.

My next one will be a sand car. I have access to acres of sand here. Big sand hills. That was the most fun I had with my first baja. Paddle tires in the sand.

I don’t have a track, and there is not a track near, so I drive it in the nature here and at the lake, just driving, bashing and a little jumping

We had a track when we had fg Marder, and with a few of those cars it was mad fun.

Is Vesla is a very poor design. The arms and hubs/axial carriers are very week. The stock transmission is absolute garbage. The shock layout is not good either. I built a Vesla from a kit and put a ESP34cc engine in it. I also converted it to 8s electric.

Thas being said, I also have a HPI Baja that I built from a kit with a Castle 8s system in it. It runs so much better than the Vesla. I do have plenty of upgrades on it, but it is the one I keep going back to to put a smile on my face.
 
If i only had a field or park to run my 5t in I'd probably would of shelved it a long time ago and i would have more money in the bank. I'm lucky enough to have a little playground where a 4wd is necessary and i still cant get it to go fast enough..lol BUT i do also have a original HPI 5b ss that i cant take on my track because it is absolutely useless on it. They are truly a lawn dart! I take the baja and rip the field and it is blast.
Right tool for the right job and if that doesn't work get a bigger hammer!

Perhaps we should look into this someday?
Vesla and the short buggy I have would be good candidates.
Plus, after it is over you won't have to mow the field for a couple weeks.
