This morning I picked up brand spanking new Savage X4.6 at UPS from TowerHobbies! After I unboxed everything, I noticed that the front driver wheel was free spinning! I initially though it was missing a dog bone. But no...it was missing the pin behind the wheel hub! I immediately called HPI to complain. But luckily It had some spares. Then I quickly notice when I spun the rear wheels they were both spining in the same direction. I looked under and it was missing the center dogbone! Again I called HPI raised HELL since this was a brand new vehicle from HPI. They are going to overnight me the parts I need! Then after the phone call I decided to go to my local Hobbytown with my savage. To my surprise Brad the tech was also working on a brand new savage X .. The set screw behind the roto start plate on the motor"completely turned into ashes". He said after the take over from hobbico, HPI has been going down hill not just in vehicle quality control, but in retail and customer support! He said that mine was third brand new savage and mine was 12th overall HPI this week with major problems out of the box. Which he said was unheard of. I ended up buying a new set of dogbones since its my nephews first nitro and couldnt wait. Has anyone experienced this type of issue(s) with recent HPI purchases?? and also there is no parts support right now for the WR8 and maybe other HPI vehicles because of the merger. Brad from hobbytown said that most of the parts are available but not for sale because hobbico wants full control of parts. Hopefully this gives everyone an insight on what is going on with HPI.
