I have an A.R. Drone 2.0 quad copter. My iphone is the controller. The drone has a built in camera that is linked live to my iphone so I can take photos or videos of my flight. It also will hover in one spot when you let go of the controls.
I was look'n at those. What kind of range do they have? I assume it a blue tooth connection.

It's a wifi connection. The range is probably around 100 yards. I know there is a MacGyver mode that you can do to them so you can use a stick type controller for long range

The A.R. Drone is definitely not a "professional grade" quad copter but it is fun to play with. People are always amazed when I pull my phone out of my pocket to control it.

I gave into temptation and bought myself one for Father's Day. :D

Picked up 6 extra lipo packs and a case to transport it all. This will make it easy to just throw in the car for something to do when visiting the in-laws. He-He

I have a Contour GPS, but I will have to make a mount for it. Looks like the new Hero3 Black is nicer, so I might upgrade. The Hero will plug right into the Phantom. My Contour will not.

Run time is only 8-10 minutes. The battery compartment will not hold a larger pack. So I figured with a total of 7 packs, I should have a good hour of fun. That's assuming I don't plant it first and put it out of commission. LOL
