got my side dom today. holy crap!! its fat,black, and ugly and i love it!! what a diffrence. it turned that little 23 into a raped ape. here is a short vid of a before and after


oh ya. i swapt the gears around. it was 29/31(a/b) so now its 31/29.. i was thinking i would have a higher top speed with that but took i took it out for 1minute and it felt like i had more lower end. am i wrong?
 
I would think you would have gained a bit more top end but probably not noticable. Nice video.....The black does look better and it does look better on the buggy.
 
i think it got alittle better top end, hard to see from the vid. but i also swapt the gears around as i have enough lower end to pull it nice. i'll see over the weekend
 
i just put a set of RR speed gears on my buddy's baja.he said he felt like he had more bottom end, i told him that what is probably happening is that there is less wheel spin at take off. therefor it appears that you have more bottom end when you are actually just controlling your torque better.roost is cool but if your tires are spinning your are not going forward.

this is killin me as i want to go outside and let it rip just to find out what the deal is. i know the way i changed the gears will give me more top end, but when i went outside i realized my antena wire was stuffed under my roof plate with the shell on. was getting bad glitches and throttle sticks.. so i throttled it up the steet and it "lit up". right off the line. and that was it. if you watch the vid you will see a slight low end lag off the line. it just appeared to be gon ofter changing the gears around. i'll find out tomorrow morning.. giving myself a day off to play with all my toys.. :D

Your TT defintely seems faster than mine. The TT 29/31 or 31/29 gearing is defintely helping the topend. I'm running freaking MT gears though which is the problem. I never got to run TT 29/31gears even though I have a TT. I'm running the MT 25/35 gears because my car was originally an MT. A guys I know from the LHS and I ordered Rampages and they came in together. I had my MT setup with my Hitecs and radio gear and he slapped his gear into his TT. He hated the TT body and like my MT. I like the TT rims. So we swapped the rear bumpers, body, and tires. Long story short is that I got stuck with the MT super low gearing accidentally. I can't get a hold of him so he's probably bogging the hell out of that MT with the TT gearing.


Hey, I did order 29/31's from Rob but he told me he was going to send MCD 30/30 instead which sounds like a good deal to me. I got em in right now. I'm taking mine outta town with me and will get some video with the 30/30's with that DS engine.

thatrs crazy you are running them low ars gears!! damn. i feel bad for that other guy, probly thinks the redcat sucks.. in this vid i was running 29/31, but swapped them today(31/29). didnt lose much lower end and it FLY'S on the high side!!! im sure if i was running in a smaller area i would like the low end, but today it was freakin great!!

So far I've run 25/35, 35/25, 29/31, 31/29, and 30/30. I think I like the 31/29 the best even though they are stock plastic and not the MCD stuff. I gave the 25/35's back to the MT guy and took the 29/31's. I liked them alot better. Also, I ran 30/30 this weekend but take a look at the pic. I had zip for gear problems then all of a sudden I eat up 2 sets of gears. The pic was the 2nd set of gears within 30 minutes. The first time it just ate the stock 25/25 gears. I put the MCD 25/25's in then after 20 minutes I ate up the entire set. I'm ordering Ramtech 25/25's right after I post this.
 
guys i got the mt pro it has a 30.5 stpck hy engine it seems to have alot of power got the redcat tuned pipe do you guys think when i go with excavater tires and a dominator pipe i can go with faster gearing to make it go faster and it will still have low end im not sure what gears to go with but i just wwant a little more speed thanks
 
I started with 29a and 31b gears and I swapped them now it seems to just spin the wheels on takeoff starts to fish tail alittle gets turned either left or right by that time it gets traction back and takes off, I like the topend I get with the 31a and29b gears but it gets alittle out of control with the stock tt wheels I think if I had the mt wheels id have alot more traction

You can defintely gear up since you are running a torque engine with lighter smaller tires. I'd try 27/33 or better yet 29/31. If you wanna spend the cash on the VRC side pipe for the MCD you can prolly even pull 30/30 since that pipe has alot of power down low.
