Since Redcat decided to totally change the outer drive part, I have had to make a mod to mimic the previous setup. I don't know about you guys but I don't like the fact you have to drill out the current wheels and use a huge a$$ nut. The mod involves cutting off the threaded end, tapping out 5mm threads and installing a 5mm screw inside the hub's shaft. Oh, and some J-B Weld. I will take some pictures of the process. I have been running this mod in the rough for a bit and it seems to be the answer for me.

Are your tire foams still good, or did you rebuild them? Your mod will allow you to run all the FG wheels if your new bolt is longer.

Look forward to your pics. :)

Time to screw ;-) (I use J-B Weld to lock it in but I guess you could use Red Locktite...)

Nice job. Did you even have to drill them before tapping? Seems kinda silly they would be hollow that far out. And what was causing the other to break?

No drilling. The shaft is hollow. I would assume that the metal on the original couldn't handle the stress of the nut being tightened so hard when I was using aftermarket wheels but I am good to go now. :)
