wondering the ideas in lube for gears (NOT the final drive diffs), but the clutch takeoff to the center.. i added a touch of lithium about every 4/5 tanks or so... might need a bit more ...the dog bone (CV) joints are a concern as well i added a tiny bit of lube, but dry may attract less grit. my lighter units 1/10 nitro really didnt require much of anything, a drop every now and then and they have a DECADE+ of time behind them with out trouble... but the weight/power with the 1/5 scale has to be an issue... wondering some experiences you guys have had especially with the CV joints. dri-lube was my first thought simply to attract less junk.

..and with the diff cases oil or grease in them from the factory? rate of change required? i am really getting into serious time running the unit and want to get into the flow BEFORE it blows.

the groups thoughts, concerns and experience would nice, thanks

Graphite lube works well. The diffs are filled with some gunk. No idea what it is. As far as how often you change it, I usually do it after each gallon of use.

The grease in the stock diffs in my TT is pretty good stuff, but I changed it out when I cracked a diff housing with high temp grease for the hell of it.

I use a bit of high temp low viscosity grease on the centre diff assembly and main gears fairly often. A good blow out with compressed air as part of routine prep work with a little fresh HT grease in these locations often

I don't use any lube or boots on the dogbone / cup connections.

hey chrispc66, you mentioned the boots for the dogbones which seems like a tidy idea, but i think dry/some dry lube (avoiding wet/mud)is simple and effective. with lube and boots, if they split/crack open (which they will) and now HOLDING junk inside is asking for trouble.

i suspect i won't go into diff. unless there's an issue either. a plug/or easy access would prove useful though for the lube process, doubtful its essential, and problems will show up if it is...indeed impressive on the maintenance Deluge! the drive line on my unit has bedded in smooth and mostly quiet and lube certainly keeps it that way.

thanks for the response guys
