Just got back from a run in the park, hit a massive puddle that I didnt see. Everything got drenched.

Im worried about my hitec hs5745mg which had allot of water on it. I dried if off with a rag and ran it for another 15 mins and it didnt twitch and did what it was told.

If these servo's get water damage does the damage show up straight away or down the track somethere?

I heard once digital servo's get wet there is no bringing them back.:helpsmilie:

it depends on if the water gets into it or not. if your concerned, pull the servo apart and see if there is water in it, and if so dry it out. to help protect the servo put some dielectric grease on the circuit board and use some silicone between the cases to seal it up. it wont make it 100% waterproof as water can still get in through the splines, however it will help if you hit a puddle again

Most servos can take a splash or 2 but they don't like to sit in a puddle underwater......should be ok but it wouldnt hurt to pull the top off as posted.

Definately pull the back off it and dry it thoroughly,,,in front of a heater,,hair dryer or whatever.

If left overnight untouched, any water that may be in there will condensate and wet everything on the board,,,,,,if turned on in this state,,the unhealthy sound of "FFFFZZZZTTTT" will be evident!!!!!!

So,,,DRY,DRY,DRY!!

I've suffered 3 burnt servo's,,,,,don't make my lazy mistake coz I couldnt be bothered washing the mud off!!!

I took the back off and left it in the sun yeasterday. took it for another run today and worked fine, hopefully it wont be a problem down the line but all good for now.:)

sperera, you'll be fine. i can't tell you how many times the same thing has happened to me. The case of the servo is water resistant (puddles, don't soak it). The only place that water might get in is the little nub were you put the servo horn. To fix that, just dab on some grease in the area and it'll be ok.

If in doubt the HS5745 is a very easy servo to completly tear down. Tear it down and clean it out. There may not be water in it but if it made it intot he lower case it could just be sitting in there. Best to tear it down and take a look. Should take under :30 min.
