Greetings:

I'm considering my options for a recent purchase of a Killer Krawler. Can dual motors be run through a single SC or will each one require a dedicated unit? If it's a 2 SC plus 2 motor config, how will 2 SC's be managed through a Futaba 4pk? This is my first exposure to dual motors.

Thanks,

Pat

It all depends on what you want to do.... with that type of configuration motor front and back, running one esc you will experience something called clod stall, where under low input of throttle one motor doesn't spin as fast (the rear)....

the ideal configuration for one of these types of rigs with 2 motors is to use a stick 4ch radio. then you can control front motor and steering with one stick, rear motor and steering with the other....

that type of setup is the ultimate because say you are climbing a steep incline or hanging on a rock surface, it's actually better to have more front wheel pulling than rear because if the front slips and rear grabs it can flip you over. you can also steer each wheel independantly depending on the path you need to take.

if you've spent that much on a crawler you might as well make it a real ultimate crawler

and if you need a dig setup, you can go forward with the front motor and steer and a little reverse on the back motor or at least brakes.... then the truck will pivot around the back axle. lots of plusses to a dual esc setup

the place we went crawling and the comps are held here is some serious steep and long inclines. it was challenge enough climbing the side of the mountain just to be able to drive the lines...
