Well last night was the night for the start of my baja 5b transformation. I am going to document the whole process with pics and video. Basically taking a stock baja 5b with a few mods and amping it up to take on the Silver Lake sand dunes. Hopefully some people find it interesting.
Any suggestions through the process would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jer
I purchased the Full Mod 30.5 CC RCMK engine from Gizmomotors. The quality of this motor is simply amazing. I couldn't believe the difference between this and the old 2-bolt CY. The guy's down at Gizmo did an awesome job. Couldn't afford the twin. Gonna be sort of a budget build.

Safety First! Installing Killer RC Super Bee V2 kill switch: This was kind of a tight fit. The switch had to be twisted 180 degrees to pull the wires safely away from the head. It kind of puts a little twist on the switch, but should be OK.

I also Purchased the Victory "BigBore" Side mount pipe for this little rascal:

One thing I noticed was that the manifold that came with the pipe was warped really bad. Heat from the welder had put about a .075 twist in it. There was no way that was going to ever seal correctly. Quick trip to the surface grinder and all was fixed. (Benefits of owning your own Tool and Die shop)

Shred Stack installed. Had to go out and counter-bore the bolt holes a little deeper to get proper thread engagement.

Next up TGN easy Clearance air filter followed by TGN Redneck thin layer filter. FYI the stainless hose clamp that comes with this filter kit is WAY too wide to use. I have to find one that's not as wide to fit in the rubber groove cut for it on the filter assembly. If you tighten it up at all, the clamp just pops the filter off. We will have to see how this filter works? Not too sure I am sold on it yet.

That's it for last night. Tonight its time to tear down the old baja :w00t:
