I am going to buy 1 and if I love it, then I will buy one for the other trucks. My first one is going in my DuneRunner because it's my fastest and I use it for "on road" with the HPI TarmackBuster tires... works great.

Like I said, mine wears an XCan and it does great... but others have said that the other pipes are better...

It definately helps with that- you really wouldnt even think it is the same engine with the difference it makes...

are these things normally sluggish off the start? it takes a good 15 seconds before it seems to kick in and move good.

That's a combination of a crap carb, crap pipe and lame clutch spring.

You'll get the same performance from the HPI 5T can, and it's cheaper. Plus, you won't have to worry about those stingers coming loose.

The 990 I got from DDM didn't come with a gasket. It's a good idea to stock up on some gasket sets, just in case.

I went all over this thing the day it came in and thread locked every screw and bolt I could and the ones I couldnt get to either fell out or became loose!

sounds about right... there is a lot of vibration going on in that thing while you are having this much fun...

I am hoping so. the carb should be here early next week, still looking for a 8000 clutch spring and considering a belt drive but that can wait if need be.

The spring alone is hard to locate... and even harder to get in the stock clutch. I suggest for under 15 bucks just getting a new clutch with the spring already installed.
