2nd time running it. Hit a slight jump and realized it was front wheel drive only at that point although I own the 4x4. The drive pinion in the rear completely snapped. Dog bone popped out and lost the bearing. What the hell? How to fix?

Are you talking about the drive cup, or the pinion gear inside the diff case.

You just need to take it apart, make your self a list and get what you need and reassemble. If its brand new you could give Redcat a call, they might warranty the parts for you.

Pinion gear. I'm kind of confused the way it's set up. It's about a month old. I filled out a warranty form. I mean is that pretty common ? The thing split in two

Not home right now will later tho. Took the rear off. For a visual just think of the drive cup with the stem out the back broke. In the rear end diff. It goes ball bearing with the rest of the pinion even with the the ball bearing. I believe there's two ball bearings in the rear end. I got one stuck in there with the rest of the pinion. The other one just fell out

You'll have to pull off the cover to fix it. Here what your in for.

I'm guessing a substandard part. It's the drive cup that normally fails. You might be able to get Redcat to send you a complete rear diff assembly.

I hope they take care of you.

Re: Dunerunner broke

The 4 gears should be better or make the diffs last longer at least that's what I'm thinking

Well after 2 times running it my DR went from 4 wheel drive to front wheel only. Snapped that thing like nothing

Re: Dunerunner broke

There had to have been a defect or something I never seek those opinions snap. As rcdad said its the diff cups where the pin slides through inside the diff snaps. It did on mine and ever since I heat treated then they hold up like a tank

Believe me, I was shocked. I didn't even take the thing through anything rough. Just going through my yard and I hear it wind up really loud with a ting noise. See the dog bone sitting there and the diff cup with a broken stem

I'm confused.

Both 50072 (11t) and 50074 (10t) are listed for the front and rear diffs respectively. Then 50071 (33t) and 50073 (30t) crown gears are listed. I guess you use 5072 w/ 50071 and 50074 w/ 50073.

Why do they use different gears, I would have thought the diffs front and rear use the exact same parts.

They need to spin opposite directions correct?
I know we're talking about the same thing but man, it is hard to explain w/ text.

So the crown gears spin in the same direction but are on opposite side of the diff case, right vs. left. So since these are helical cut they are not interchangeable, right? Then you do have to buy two sets b/c some genius decided to use a different tooth count from front to back.

I just looked at the diagram more closely and I'm more confused. If you look at the diagram they only show the 30T gear for the center assembly. But they show 11t pinion for the front and the 10t pinion for the rear.

I'm convinced now that the diagram on the first page has a misprint. The 10/30 gears are for the center drive and the 11/33 are for the front/rear diffs. I don't think any of them are interchangeable.
