Duratrax CY23. Is this a unique engine?

Looker, you are dead on. I took my engine off my FHMT. I have a damn 3 bolt. So much for it being CY. Sh*t! Guess I'll just put it back in and save the bore kit for a 2 bolt. Unbelievable.

If any of you think you can upgrade your 23cc on your Firehammer MT's, YOU PROBABLY CAN'T. :(

So I guess, if any of you think you have a CY in your Firehammer, check the number of bolts. I feel dirty and violated now. Is there a smiley with a guy bent over a chair?
 
My firehammer is a smartech with a CY engine....came that way..
But I built a new all zonoah engine...for my firehammer.........Slawhammer

I think the 3 bolt started coming out on the Titan and slowly moved over. Like has been said about the price of the FHMT gong down and down, the price has to match the product so cheaper and cheaper parts to make up for it.:( I think I would rather have a China 2 bolt then a 3 bolt at least you can install a new top end.
 
Maybe it was due to demand and where it was built and what was available. I know a lot of people were getting different engines on all sorts of the same model MT's?

Good one !!! We could actually use one of those. Yea it's crazy, but to be honest all I ever was around were the Smartech brand. Coming with a CY engine, that was awesome for adding your choice big bore kit. I had no idea they moved these junkers over to the 2wd's. The one I showed was from a 4x4 titan. I was not around the Duratrax / Carson / XTM models. Best options for that engine are :

Junk the can muffler & stock carb & airfilter.
Add a pipe
A 603 carb
Better air filter HPI/k&n

You'll get the maximum that it's capable of that way & believe me it's way better than stock. But .....
I have a 26cc CY takeout from a 5bSS kit for sale too if your interested PM me.

I have a tuned pipe and a good air filter. The carb seems pretty good, I haven't any problems with it at all. I'm thinking of some options. Disappointed, especially when I thought I had a CY all along. This is the first time I've heard of a 3 bolt. :no:
 
Once you get the CY bottom end, as long as your coil & mounts & fan cover will work, your golden. From there, you can build anything you want.

At this point, I'm not sure about anything attached to that engine! LOL

I feel confident with the spark plug and the air cleaner! Both parts I have replaced personally!
 
Sorry to have brought such bad news upon you csp. I was just trying to make sure I know what I have when it gets here so I can map out an accurate modification/upgrade plan.

You didn't do anything wrong, in fact you helped us realize what we have! We all learn something new everyday.. lol. I feel, as long as it runs and throws dirt, we'll find a way to have fun with them!!!

As long as they don't have a damn glowplug!!!

This is another one of those threads you sort of wish you had not read.
Some good info to know. I had to run down in the RC room and count the bolts and low and behold I have a running paper weight when it comes to mods besides the pipe and carb and filter. Pretty dissapointing here because I was looking to see what I can do to it in the future also. I feel ya csp.
Them damn slanted eyed hobbits always getting over on us here.

:) You didn't bring any bad news. I would have found out pretty quick anyway. I have a big bore that I was going to put on and thought I'd look at the engine.

It sucks, but the engine has worked pretty good for me. So don't be too down. Get a tuned pipe and you won't even care. I've run mine for almost 2 years without any serious issues! :chinese:

Thats an excellent way of looking at it. Nothing you can do about it now anyway. Enjoy what you have & run it as much as possible. It's great your actually having decent luck with it.
