Duratrax Fire hammer my first hobby grade rc

I just got a duratrax Fire hammer buggy as my first rc, go big or go home I guess lol. I obviously got it used and it was pretty rough. Main differential gear was shot, engine mounts worn and I believe it's called the layshaft gear is pretty worn. Also, the larger of the 2 engine mounts, the one that holds the bearing the the final gear before the 48t main differential gear had a Crack in it so the layshaft(?) was bouncing around. So I'm ordering a new large motor mount. I want to replace that layshaft gear also I didn't check when I had it apart how many teeth it is.... It was great bottom end now tires spin on every surface but top end isn't all great. I have read every thing I can find about the fire hammer but really nothing about gearing. What tooth layshaft gear would help top end a little but work with my 48t differential gear? Also I want to get a new body and tires which I found are pricey for 1/5 scale what are some good sites for good prices for these? I appreciate your time and pointers.
