I broke another one of these:

This is the second one that the metal insert (I'm not sure what they are called) has pulled itself out of (after hitting a rock going about 10mph). What happens rather than the plastic just stripping, the metal insert pulls right out, still attached to the screw.

Anyone else had this happen? I've had no issue with the HobbyPro knuckle on the other side, just the Duratrax ones. That was my last Duratrax knuckle so no more inserts to come out and become non-fixable.

It was last year, but I just checked the site, no longer up (www.jhc-888.com). Horrible service.

uhmm, ya. i'll probly get hung out to dry for saying this, but i have had nothing but good luck with hobby pro parts. i replaced almost all the hobby pro suspension parts on my gt-40 with fg parts and have broken 90% of them in small to moderate crashes. i put back on the hobby pro parts and have takin serious crashes like jumping 4by4's and hitting track walls at almost full speed! plus getting broad sided on the back straight too. have yet to break 1 single hobby pro part! and i have gone thru almost all of my fg invontory in small slip-ups.. im not sure what it is.. cant explain it. it may be an on-road, but its not tumbling on some grass feild either. fgsupply.com has loads of invontory on hobby-pro parts. and most of them will fit your duratrax.

It all depends on what type of alloy it is. Some use cheap weak alloy and some done. That is whey you can fined the same part one for 50 $ the other is 150 &.

I had the same thing with mine CSP. Maybe we are the unlucky ones, but it seemed any sort of landing involving the front wheels landing before the backs caused them to pop out....even at low speed. In the year I owned the Hammer, I probably went through 7 between both fronts.

I couldn't believe it happened a second time. It's a great idea, but it's not a great idea to put one of those inserts in there with some really thin plastic surrounding it and on a suspension component!

On a more positive note, there is an insert in the Large Motor Mount where the top plate connects. I just noticed it last week sometime.

Ok ..For the steering knuckles you want item# FG 6103/06 Dave's discount motors,, DDM
has them,,That is what I used on my firehammer...Bigger you were close on the choice..
I have upgraded my firehammer to about 90% now ...Best to you and your Buggy

Well I had to do it. I got a $20.00 off a $50.00 purchase from Tower so I got the front knuckles. Of course I didn't like the blue.

Bigger The Better..Nice improvement....I hate bearings in plastic anyway..beside's that
nub breaking off or pulling loose ..like CSP1971 has had on his unit....AkASlawhammer

I got buggyguy's firehammer and tossed a spare fg on road knuckle on. they are almost identical to the fh one but no metal insert. I have since sold the buggy to a friend and it's still holding.... just changed my on road to aluminum so donating a couple more to him.

I figured a marder one would have worked but they are like the on road ones. lucky I had a spare. it was going on regardless until new ones came. I installed the L on the R side and just cut the travel stop off

I got the fg alloy knuckles, which came with an alloy travel stop. they are threaded one side, but nowhere on the knuckle to mount them? I just left them off...

I think it's just the knuckles are crap Trip. every company has some bad design to stick us with... well the Duratrax shocks suck too.

OK, Thanks for the info... I only spent 50 bucks so even if everything is junk, I'm not out too much! I started thinking though, if the Duratrax parts are crap, I am going to ship everything back to Tower and buy FG replacements!
