ELCON CLEON/ decision time /HPI BAJA 5T

I couldnt afford all the hop ups needed to make a baja strong and reliable, so I bought a cleon for bashing instead, Its stunning! flys over jumps, long travel soft suspension just copes with everything Ive thrown at it so far. Steering is so sharp and direct compared to anything else, a real pleasure to drive.
It is boring owning it though, nothing ever comes up on ebay to bid on for it, all I have to do is clean it off ready for next time out.

i think i am going to get a cleon.

it looks really good and tough.

are they big in the flesh,would one look as big as the 5t,5t look huge...

They are wider. I was over at a friends yesterday who has the Proline conversion on his Baja SS. Tried the body on my Cleon and the wheels stick out past the body. Keep in mind since it more of a racer the areodynamics on it are great!
 
if your looking for a well built race car that is very good on handling then get the cleon i have one, couple of this to note the rear wing holders are crap and break first roll usually but oddified has made some new stronger ones that don't break, next the chassis 3mm thick not very strong, i have manufacted my own 4mm t6 7075 chassis that is much stronger i also sell these, next on the list is the side gaurds these are very week and i broke mine first race there is some better quality ones available from si@sracing,next are the bumpers these break for fun if you hit something but most bumpers fit, if your looking to bash the car hard then this is not the car for you they don't like to be rolled or bashed hard, the car is aimed at the racers mainly

i would be more overly concerned about the running gear on the cleon.

i wonder how the machine it self underneath the skin copes with hard driving?

i suppose other than what you mentioned they must be very good.

i can deal with them bits you mentioned being replaced,but just get tired with having to strip down car to mesh gears all the time thats common with fg's and others.

my idea of owning a cleon is a car you pay top £ for and don't need to upgrade along the way.
 
The gear mesh can not come apart the unit is basically one peice you never have to mesh the gears they are done automatically, if the issues i said are not a problem then i would get one as the drive train is awsome and bullet proof all steel helicoil gears great diff etc , it is a fantastic car to drive.

yes i agree
from what i have seen about them they look overall a good package.
i do know the elcon drivetrain system was going to get it for my fg but didnt bother.

yes i suppose there cant be much more to it really,looks like a solid piece of kit.
roll on my birthday in may.

who knows stevo you might fix me up with one of your engines then.
get your online shop up and running?

are you porting yours? any other work,i did see some specified on your site but wasnt all up and running last time i checked.

i will be gettitng car from hobbythek in kit form,i decided this would be the best way,i can get it with or with out engine.

put it to you this way me and a few lads often make tracks and run on flat beaches in summer,i want the meanest fastest engine for this machine i can get. money no object with this project.

i have until may to choose.

update.

well im yeat again considering yeat another 1/5th scale r/c ,machine
this time it is the tecnokit onroad from carlito in market place.

keep fingers we can come to some deal!!:clown:
