Petrol tuning is new to me having been all nitro up to this point.

Took my car for a very quick run around a carpark earlier, everything works as it should which is nice.

Waited til it had warmed up a bit and went for a little bit of revs but it was bogging down and refusing to rev when I gave it a lot of throttle ... is this the engine running too rich? Is it the high speed needle I should lean a little bit ?

is it run in mate.

I was trying to get the revs up but thats when its bogging and refuses to rev

Sounds like it's running rich, turn the 'H' needle clockwise (in) a touch then run again. Need to make sure it's hitting the height of it's rev range then turn it back just a little to make sure you are getting good lubrication and cooling.

This needs to be done slowly as sometimes the engines don't react quickly to adjustments so take your time.

I was talking to Rich at Rossendale Models about running in and they all go racing but said most guys he races with don't bother running in. If you get 1 tank through it youv'e done well. making sure the tune is right is more important. Looking at the colour of the spark plug can tell you alot. Do a search on google for spark plug colour charts for 2 stroke engines.

I'll do that tonight hopefully, I thought it sounded rich and was just choking for air.
