Not sure if I'm putting this in right section need some advice on where to get parts. I have a rolling chassis mcd evo 3 I think. Need to find out what I need to mount engine to chassis. I have a zenoha engine but no mounts other than ones that came of a marder. Was wondering if anyone can help with part numbers....

Thanks in advance

yup you posted in the right section hopfully when the mcd guys come on they can help Goodluck

this is the chassis i have

any help would be much appreciated

In order to fit the zenoah engine you need to mill, grind or file the under neath of the engine (crank case) to clear the rear centre drive shaft.

No special parts required to fit the engine as long as you have the standard clutch housing from the engine. Then you will need 3 x m6 x30 bolts for the gear carrier to the clutch housing and the 2 counter sunk bolts for the engine flywheel cover and chassis.

thanks for the information.
Is there an engine that won't require milling and grinding to fit or do they all need slight mods to get them on?

They will all need the slight mod to fit. Just don't grind to much and go through the crank case. Just a matter of do a small bit and trail and fit.

Get a picture up of the engine (clutch side) as ive seen some engines with different clutch covers.

Ps noticed no rubber grommit for the fuel tank. Try to get yourself a winged filter for the fuel tank and some tygon fuel line. Kingcobra or rossmods for spares. As for the bolts ebay is usually cheaper.

Cannot tell from the picture but I would also vent the fuel tank. This is done by drilling a small hole in the centre of the fuel cap and adding a nipple. Get some extra length fuel hose and attached it to the nipple then route the pipe towards the back of the car.

I do have the rubber gromit bit will look up the parts you suggested to get parts in right first time. I was actually wondering about that as my marder had a vented fuel tank. cheers for the advice .

Hi there,

I am having a similar problem when fitting the engine to my MCD Rally. Is milling/grinding also required for the CY engines or just the Zenoah’s? I am surprised MCD haven’t factored this into their design as it seems a bit strange expecting the end user to grind their new engines for fitment?

Also, are any washers required between the two flywheel cover mounts and the chassis as the flywheel cover seems a few millimetres lower (at the centre) than the two mounting points for the bolts
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Kind Regards
Jerome

Depending on the motor, you may need a pair of thin washers from your parts bin, but otherwise, once the crank case has been clearanced (and cutting templates are available on MCD's website) it should drop down over the driveshaft nicely. Neither my Zenoah or CY engines need shims on my rallies.
