Some advice please with my marder build, my problem is the engine mount holes don't line up width ways with the holes in the chassis on the drive side. The chassis, metal engine mounts and engine casings are all FG, I'm thinking the bell housing is my problem. I've measured the depth of this at 32mm, are there different casings? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi mate

i think i have the same problem,i had a cy engine in my marder but i have just tried fitting a zen and the engine mount fits but the holes are on a angle,i think i need to swap the clutch housing for the cy one or cut some of it away,i hope they are interchangeable..............phil

Get some pics posted then we can see what you mean!
 
After a lot of asking questions i've ordered a genuine FG bell housing, it seems I may have a hpi baja housing which is giving me the problem. My mounts are all square, just 5mm out of line widthways on the drive side. I'd love to meet the bloke that sold me this car ' had some use , just needs a few worn parts replacing'. A nut and bolt rebuild is what it needs, mind you, I've learnt a lot, and spent a lot too :w00t:. I'll post again once i've got the housing and fitted it.
 
Got and fitted the new bell housing today, spotted the difference straight away, the bottom right hand corner of the casing has a cut out which lets the mounting sit in the correct positon. job sorted :)

spot-on, i bet yur well chuffed, i am now i swapped mine over & it works.

all i need now is some alloy front suspension stoppers,they have them at RC on line but the emailing does my head in lol...................phil
 
Yep well chuffed that's sorted, Its all about learning as you go along. got 75% of the car rebuilt this weekend inbetween decorating my sons bedroom zzzz should get it finished this week and out for a run next weekend:D:D:D

I'm rebuilding it, bought it needing 'a bit of work' but it turned out to be a real dog, been bodged to death :mad: So i stripped it down to the chassis, which was bent, and started again. It's been a voyage of discovery and i'm getting there now, just need to mount the engine, wire in the remote kill switch, fit and set up the 2.4ghz radio gear, on with the roll cage and then it's test drive time, yipee :w00t:
