Just before I tear this 5T apart, again. I am praying to the LSF gods to send me a sign that I am headed in the right direction. After very first break in the engine flooded and I fouled a plug. I then changed the plug and got it up and running. Since then I added a Bartolone silenced pipe and turtle billet box with an offset filter. It was running fine. I had a rollover, but it still was up and running. I was tuning the carb on the low needle with a single 1/16th turn and after running it came back to me and died. I figured I flooded it so tried to clear the flood. No dice. I then took it home and changed the plug after an overnight rest. No dice. I then took out the spark tester… no spark. So now I am left wondering if I need to take the engine off to get to the flywheel/magneto/ignition coil. It has to be something there right? I know I set the coil off the flywheel correct. I even used a DDM spacer. Besides the it was running.

So my question to you LSF gods… is there anything else before I tear this engine off?

At this point I want to tear it off and throw it as far as I can. This 5T is making me about as frustrated as cat trying to bury his poop on a frozen lake.

Check the kill switch etc. Basically only a few things will kill the spark. Bad coil, high tension lead (plug wire), kill switch (either the button or emergency) or the possibility of the coil moving away. Just a process of elimination. It can get annoying at times. We've all been there. Good thing is if it's the coil or something that came with the truck, get ahold of horizon and claim warranty. They are pretty decent about claims.

check the coil gap again mate, may have dropped enough to cause an issue,
and check your push to kill switch on the engine, they sometimes fail or stick in,

edit; sean beat me to it

I got the fan cover off… probably need to reset the coil height… also the kill switch cable melted a little bit on the heat fins from the motor. Maybe a continuity issue? But isn’t the kill switch normally closed?

If the killswitch lead got severed it won't stop the engine from starting you just won't be able to shut it off with the killswitch.

Your outside the limits of the engine running with minimal fuel. Reset your carb and try again. It's probably going to suck trying to start it again but reset the needles and keep trying to get it running.

If I try anymore tonight my back will be destroyed.

Let me be the first to say I know I don’t know, but what does resetting your carb have to do with no spark?

Yep I wrote that as a save it for later when you get spark .....jk I admit I wasn't paying attention with that one :ROFLMAO:🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️.... I had a dynamite killswitch die on me and I ended up in your situation. O yea check your engine mounted killswitch button. Mine got stuck in and I didn't notice until I took the engine apart.

My assistant was saying something and I didn’t catch what she said so I just replied, “Reset your carb settings and try again.” I don’t think she got it.

This is my new reply to things I don’t pay attention to.

I laughed. That’s all that matters.

Anyways. I think it is the dynamite kill switch. Everything else appears to be in good order. Was your light still illuminating even though the kill switch was fried?

Looks like the fly wheel hit the ignition coil. Does this need to be replaced?
