hello,i have been messing with this engine for a bit now it idles good and you can rev it up to the 8000 rpm and it runs good but when you start to drive the truck it gets boggy and sounds like it is missing it won't go over 15 mph i have tried everything but a coil i have the three line fuel system and the 990 on it what do you all think it is a 29cc stuffed crank stroker thank you

Make sure all the wiring is secure. That could cause a miss. If that doesn't help, try to bypass it and see if the miss goes away.

Also, you said you tried everything. Just to confirm, did you try a new plug?

yes i have even tried to unhook the kill switch still the same unless the problem is in the wire harness and i have changed the plug Lol!!

You don't want to be any richer than that. If you are all broke in then you can start to lean it out some.

My high needle is about 1 1/8 out but every carb will be a little different. Did it run better in the past?

yeah thats about the settings i was at just went rich when this problem started to see what it did has to be a coil but thanks for the help you guys

So a couple of days ago I was bashing my MT and after a few good tumbles due to the crappy way it mounts on the truck the tuned pipe that redcat sells wound up looking like a crushed beer can. It really is a bad mounting design anyway my truck is now sputtering when I run full throttle. I also have experienced some bogging and difficulty reaching top speed. Could this be nothing more than the effects of a dented and mangled exhaust pipe? I have already tried replacing the plug which made no difference.

I have a DDM Dominator pipe on order to replace my destroyed pipe and it should be here today. I can't wait to see how it performs... But before I install it I'm wondering if I shouldn't be checking some other things first. Air filter gasket, carb gasket,...or as Chad said the coil? But how do you know if the coil is bad will it look damaged in any way or do you just replace and see if it makes a difference.

454Chad can you tell me if you replaced your coil and if you did was that the solution?? I'm still a noob so any help is always appreciated.

If the exhaust is restricted it'll do that but also check your fuel pickup. If the filter in the tank is getting air you'll bog and vent the tank if you have not done so.
