Ok I did a search an the consensus is don't worry or tune by temp, I ran my MT today and was hitting 270 deg. I have a sensor around the sleeve I was wondering if its to close to the exhaust port, should it be closer to the top of the sleeve. Whats too hot??. Also what is the top RPM range of the 26cc stock engine. I tried mounting my RPM sensor but its errattic. Testing temp and RPM to rich and lean settings to get the best carb settings.

I wouldn't worry about temps at all, just make sure you keep dirt/grass out of the flywheel area and fan shroud so you get optimal airflow. I've seen some temp sensors that go right underneath the spark plug, I guess this is the best area to take the temp? You wouldn't want the sensor too close to the exhaust port because obviously it will be much hotter there.
