Engine upgrade

Hi guys... i just purchased a redcat racing dunerunner 4x4, but im not happy with the performance out of the box. it comes with a 25cc engine.


for now i need a quick and cheap upgrade so i can go FASTER................

Put a HPI SS pipe on it most of time you can find used on Baja Forum for $25 - $55 get you a HPI air cleaner too.


That is a good start on a budget

i was told to swap out my stock engine (25cc) with a 23cc cy engine. should i do it.

Ummmm, that would be bad advise. Go for a 26CY or 28.5 CY or anything else that isn't smaller.


But, change your exhaust first and try it out.

Put a pipe on it first you will need one anyways with a bigger motor.

I put two different pipes on my DuneRunner. Both really woke the engine up. For an inexpensive "hopup" go with the HPI tuned pipe, like Sprint says you can pick them up used fairly cheep. Also there is no modifications you need to do to the pipe its a plug and play mod. Currently I am running an HPI tuned pipe on my 4X4 and a GBE hornet on my 2X4. I haven't tried it yet but I think that the RDlogics pipe will work also and it should be plug and play as well.

will the hpi baja side pipes fit the 4x4 dunerunner?something like the gbe or vrc side pipes?

The only after market pipe I know about is the Jetpro dual bleed. It wont fit without major mods.
