The bell sound would be the clutch bell, check that is not lose

Check that its getting spark and fuel also try returning mixture settings back to factory settings

i think the clutch is my starting problem because if i give it throttle it will start and the clutch seems to be engaged causing the engine to die at low rpms.or is there another problem maybe? spark seem to be fine because when i touch it to the roll cage it sparks very good.

So will it start when off the ground? Does the tires spin every time you pull the pull start when its off the ground? Did you check the clutch spring?

i just took the tires off and it starts and the hexes spin at an idle. so i guess it has to be the clutch. right? i don't have a piston stop so i have not checked.

i also noticed that when i apply the brake the engine dies. so it has to be the clutch right? let me know before i start tearing it down. thanks, Steve

well you keep asking if it's the clutch, have you removed the holder to get to it? maybe the spring slipped off the shoes or it broke, only way to find out is to take it apart and see.

it was the clutch. i took it apart and the clutch spiring broke on both sides where the hooks are! is this normal or is there something else going on? because i would hate to buy a new clutch and the same thing happen.

well it can happen to any r/c sometimes due to installation sometimes just because it was just it's time, now is it normal just depends on what you mean normal? normal by the means of breaking within the first tank, i would say no, but like anything there are some bad parts out there, and stuff like this does happen on occasion,
by chance how bad are the shoes?

its only like the fourth tank and the clutch shoe looks allright but it is alittle chewed up from
the spring parts that came apart i assume. i have had nothing but problems with this baja since day one.

They normally wear out before they break, maybe its a cheap clone clutch, put a zenoah clutch in it this time and see how you go

Yes its the cheap clone spring they do break easily especially if you are running hard I broke 1 on like the 5th or 4th tank but once you replace with the hpi spring no more braking of the springs so far.
