I was driving my tt yesterday and it was awesome. Then I tool the carburetor and air filter off to clean in after I saw picture of dirty carburetor. Lucky on mine I had a little dirt. I cleaned it and putted everything back together.


Today I started the engine and started to have fun again, but then engine just stopped. I started again it was on for 2-3 seconds and died again. Then I started again and it died after one second. After that it won't start.


I took carburetor to see if there is problem. Then I checked pipe, which had loose screw... Also my pull start didn't go back inside, so I took it apart (side only) and fixed as I would usually do. Putted all back together and nothing.


So here me, on rampage forums.


Any first suggestions what to check?


What I checked so far:


- Check if there is spark: Yes there is


- Check if pull start is actually working: Yes it does, otherwise there wouldn't be spark


- Put the red thing in vertical position and then back to horizontal when needed: Tried, engine is almost starting but not really.


Maybe there is problem in fuel line but where exactly?

I am at church right now but I will check idle speed screw. Any other thoughts?
 
Think about it logically. It was running fine before you took the carb off, so I'm assuming air leak. If you didn't mess with the needles, I don't see why they would be the issue. I'd take it back off re-install it with a light coat of sealant, and if you're concerned about the needles, reset them to factory specs and work from there.

Well it was running perfect for about 10-20 minutes after carburator/airfilter were cleaned. I don't see why it would cause. If there would be problem with caruburator then car would die like after 1 minute or earlier.


I might check ignition glow cause I had same problem once i received the car. What I did is cleared ignition glow and then it worked.


Gonna try different things now.
 
did you put the fuel lines back on properly? the vent line could suck fuel normally until the fuel drops below the level of the line.
 
I think I have found a cause.


Just few minutes ago I was checking everything again, so I decided to look at the carburetor again. So I took it and then kinda pulled it a littlebit and noticed that head moved. So I tried to move left/right and I noticed that head on motor moves. And I think this explains why motor died in arithmetic progression.


SO I am heading to home depot to get more tools to reach head screws.


Before I go, that could cause a problem for sure right? No compression, abnormal amount of air, and bla bla bla.

Engine is fixed. Problem was caused by engine head not being tight with the engine itself.
