Is the engine new?
Was it smoking a lot?
When you 'opened' I presume you increased the throttle, does the throttle rod move, and open the throttle on the carburettor?
Is the plug lead connected onto the spark plug?
Is the battery charged - shouldn't affect the engine?
Not fired up, when you pull the chord, does it turn over OK, with some compression?
Is there fuel in the tank?
Does the primer bulb on the carburettor have fuel in it - half to 2/3 full?
Do you have a remote kill switch fitted to it?

A few questions for you - they will help!!

Wiggle and or push your Kill Switch several times then check for spark.

I had a faulty switch on mine cause starting issues right out of the box.
