On my last post I had said my ESP 30.5 is now a door stop due to sucking in dirt.
Im at the point now to decide either the ESP fully modified/ported 27.2 Zen Head Kit OR getting the ESP GP290 fully modified/ported 30.5cc head kit?

I have a high end DDM Dom pipe, 813 Walbro carb, 8000 rpm spring running on stock MT tires.

Im leaning on the 27.2 due to having the better plating and higher rpms, however when i had the 30.5, it seemed like i was lacking some speed, so i bought the 20/44 gear set up thinking this was the way to go?

So guys, what have you used for these heavy beast?
Thanks.

Honestly the 26cc with a high end DOM has been a great set up for me. I would go with the 27.2 because it would give me both the speed and the grunt of my 260 but performance of a ported higher cc motor. I have a non ported 27.2 ESP motor and love it in my Baja.
I don't think I would like higher torque and lower speed like on the 30cc.
I like wheelies but, like my drive train more. I also think I would miss the speed.:devil2:

My vote is to keep with the 27.2 ported kit.;)

I totally agree with Bigger the Better. Go with the Zenoah 27,2 cc since you get the best of two worlds (great torque and great top end). You will also get a more reliable engine since, as you also mention, many CY cylinders suffers from bad plating.

I have a Oneill Brothers 27,2cc ported engine in my FG Monster and I absolutely love it :)

Wow looks like everyone agrees on the same motor. Looks like the Zenoah is the winner here. Thats the way I was heading, but just wanted to be sure.

Now as far as the gearing with the MT tires, could I run HIGHER than the stock 16/48 with that ESP 27.2?

I bought the 20/44 set for the 30.5cc but that may be to high for a 27cc. Has anyone ran the 18/46 with the MT tires, or is that still too high?

Thanks, Hills

I had a friend who had a CY 29cc in his FG Monster and he used the 18/46 gearing without any problems, so my guess is that you can use this gearing without any problems. However, the 20/44 will probably be too much even for the 30,5cc engine.

I actually started a thread about this a couple a weeks ago where you can read more about this:

If 18/46 worked with a 29 then it will work for the 27.2.;)

One thing is that the 27.2 will be able to rev higher. You may be able to stick with the stock gearing and be fine with a load of low end.
