what do i need to change or is it possible to run ethanol without harming the engine? does it make more power? thanks guys!
 
If you are talking about the blend out of the pump it would be fine but less power. If you are talking about race alcohol then you will need a different carb. The alcohol will destroy every rubber part in it. Alcohol is actually less potent than gasoline. The reason racers use it, is because it runs so much cooler. When you run cooler you can force more fuel through an engine without burning it up. The more fuel you can burn the more power you can produce. You will get only about half of the run time out of a full tank if you were burning alcohol. Hope this helps.
 
There's a video floating around with a FG MT playing tugga-war with a MCD 4x4 running on alchohol. Both had ported engines but still the MCD running the alchohol easily won.
 
When you run straight methanol you will have to purge the ending after each day of running and put after run oil in as methanol is very hygroscopic which means it absorb moister BIG TIME. Methanol is what is the biggest percentage of what glow plug fuel is made of. In my opinion more hassle then it is worth. You would be better to buy a modified engine.
