with regards to the exhaust on my XRC-RC2 :w00t: i am keeping the silver box so it acts like a muffler but would a 15mm pipe coming off of that be to small or would i need to go for a wider pipe ?

15mm o/d and about 13mm i/d is close to the standard size. Its prob slightly bigger but will do the trick.

The standard FG can has 1 outlet about that size but I am running an X-Can with twin outlets & the low end performance has improved. Not sure if it is down to the can or cos the gases can escape easier through the twin outlets?? You may notice a slight improvement if this is the case :D Bang 2 in for good measure :w00t:

This is my new exhaust some sample pic as the rest are on my site.

nice work! if you ever decide to get a tuned pipe the FG on road tuning pipe fits strait on, does need a bracket to be made but by the looks of your work you would have no trouble with this :)

Thanks you pair hopefully ill get Betty out this weekend & ill get some vids done & upped 4 your viewing pleasure :)

I also need to get her tuned but is turning out to be a complete pain in the ass, As it should be the case of adjusting the L & the idle or do these lumps run with the choke fully open all the time ? I have also read the Idiots guide to Engine Tuning but yet she wont run with the choke shut :( the bit that is pissing me off is that i am mechanical minded & cant seem to tune a Poxy rc engine but give me a ford, vaxhaul, pug & a Cummings ill be able to strip, rebuild, fault find with success lol.

just take your time mate, use small 1/16th turn adjustements until is right. If you go any more than this you may go straight past the sweet spot & never find it :( Also check the plug colour, black is on the rich side, light brown is on the lean side & chocolate brown is somewhere near right.

Your going to have a bit#h of a time getting a tune on it with that stinger ont he exhaust can. I would find a way to get it shorter or wider from more exhaust movement. Maybe try expanding to 3/4"

Is the inside of the flex smooth? If not it will create quite a bit of turbulence which will affect the flow of the gases and could be causing your problems. Disconnect it and just leave the elbows on the can. If it runs ok you know where the problem lies. When I bought mine it had a rear exit pipe which was about 15mm dia but was smooth bore mild steel and not flex and it ran quite well with that set up.

Also it you are having to run with the choke on you might have an air leak on the engine. Spray some WD40 on all the joints around the engine & carb & if there is a change in engine note you def got 1. If so just replace the gaskets.

Already done that bud no change in the tone of the engine but will do it again just to triple check as this was one of the first things i done :)

regarding gaskets i can use the gasket paper & make my own as you do with full size engines ?
