Anybody else use one of these in-line? Have noticed that mine is causing interference when I have it plugged in.

Any other brands recommended? (no 3rd channel ones though)

:)

i presume its a throttle failsafe you speak of?

if so then i use airtronix micro, excellent job.

i must get one of those engine fail safes though that slawhammer has.
did you check out that set up ducky?

I think with the in -line fail safe's ..you will get a RF-signal from the spark plug..
Question..Do you have your push rods covered with heat shrink? No metal to metal rubbing any where?..That will cause interferance big time..No frayed wires any where?I have just about every thing in heat shrink for protection....Or you may get a stray signal from some where..Do you run near any metal buildings?....Other wise a 3 channel radio system..
Just my thoughts here...AKASlawhammer

I get interference without the engine running, but all the wiring is neat and I don't use any push rods. It's very slight but enough that you can feel the throttle servo vibrating in your hand, and also twitching slightly when another channel is operated. Without the fail safe it's rock steady.

I do have a 3-channel system already (3GR) but all the channels are used for servos, so no room for something like a pico switch.

Was thinking of using something like this - DC2 is this what you have?

Fail Safe

yes ducky that is the one i have.

i would get that anyway if i were you.

i like it because it doesn't take up much of your space and it will fit in with your reciver.

it needs to be programmed when you fit it,but this is easy just a few turns of your throttle servo and push a little button on the f/s unit.

it is so simple ducky a brilliant module indeed, what it will do is when signal dies to reciver it shuts on the brake straight away.

the conection from your throttle servo plugs in to one end and the other f/s end plugs in to your reciver.

f/s meaning failsafe. lol

I think that only sets the servos to where you set them like break on...
Don't think will kill engine....Modified pico is the way to go...
It is the same size as the 1 on flea bay..plus has a lite to see if killswitch is on..
I posted in my thread about the pico kill switch..AKASlawhammer
A fresh battery charge will also cause twitching with digital servos

It is a servo pre-set version (same as what I currently have)

Nope - not an engine kill - but I can't use a PICO - no spare channel, otherwise I would.

I run my servos in analog mode (the throttle one is non-digital anyway).

:)

Ducky..you say all 3 channels are used by the servo's...Can you put 1 on a Y-splitter?
That would give ya the extra channel....AKASlawhammer

Nah, because of my set-up (as seen in my build thread) I use a micro servo on the throttle and mix that with my brake servo. Hence I have to use all 3 channels up.

Ok my friend..I hear ya...you can go different trans..Fatuba 6 channel stick ..6Ex something
I talked with a rep from fatuba and that's what he recommended 2.4 ghz..That works for ground use or air..and the FCC rules have changed...Think there like 219$ @tower..
But you have what you want now for a good TX....I might go the route myself the 6 channel...Just a matter of learning how to do all over again.....If the miss's here wants to get into gas then I will got 6 channel my self.....Slaw

good choice ducky

i suppose you must be stuck for room with the hydro set up sure i forgot you have the whole front and rear set up already.

musnt have room to fling a flea in there lol

as you said pre programmed alright but you can also reprogramme yourself to make sure it is correct, also the manual adjusting set up allows you to adjust the braking power the unit applies when needed,so that if fail safe has to activate at speed it wont flip the truck by locking hard, especially with your awesome hydrolic braking power.

good little unit, all the shops i have been to in uk and whereever reccomend these.

i would love a kill switch like the pico, that is a must...to put an end to the devistating consequinces of w.o.t throttle rampages :lol:

Must be nice to be able to walk into a hobbyshop and have them know what you have!!! The last time I did, I was told by the hobbyshop owner, "You should sell that big ass piece of poop and buy a Savage X" ... What???? I laughed, (I was immediately insulted) and walked the hell out his door!!! Saying something to him about, "F@#k you and your weak ass store"!!!

The funny thing was, I DID have a Savage X and at the time he was bragging them up, I had an O.S. 30VGS installed (which would have smoked that stock Savage all damn day)

I then went out in his parking lot and fired up the FG. Within 2 minutes, he came out and asked me, "Where did you get that?" I told him, "At a real hobbyshop, online... And that's why you will never make it in this hobby a$$hole!" Then I did a bunch of wheelies and talked to a few people, then I went home.

They wonder why mailorder and online sales are so much greater than their sales, now you guys know why!!

Just be glad you have a "Human" to talk to, all I have is you weirdos!!
:p
Trip..

i have tried a couple of the nitro version t/b in line fail safe only to have them introduce copious amount of interferance. they just arnt built for use around a spark plug. they get way to much interferance from the plug.

best thing you can do is use one of the 3rd channel motor killing failsafes. they are designed to work on and around a spark plug machine, and therefore see no interferance from the spark plugs. and they arent overly priced at all at around 40 or 50.00

I just received my new fail safe and it also creates a very small amount of 'talking' on the throttle servo (although not as bad as the old one), I guess this is a side effect of how the in-lines one work....Trip if I had digital servos it would be beeping at me, perhaps this is what's causing your 'talking'? Assuming you have them plugged in at the same time.

P.S I do all my first checks without the engine running to minimise any other interference.

I was thinking that too so I yanked the fail safe, guess what?? The beeping quit.. Plugged it back in and they started beeping again, so I yanked it. I already have the throttle servo programmed for full brake and I have it built into my receiver. I am going to look into the engine kill.

Nice investigation! This is great information. Kill switch is a great idea..:cool2:
