Ive had pretty much the full range of RCs in size. I prefer my largescale gassers, the size and sound just do it for me. The only electrics ive owned are are a Losi Comp Crawler and the Redcat Sumo 1/24 Truggy. If I do purchase another it will be a 1/10-1/12 brushless truggy for onroad use.

I love my 1/10th elect, i'll have a 1/8th brushless buggy/truggy someday but these 1/5 scale gassers are amazing... the size, sound and torque... crazy. plus the attention and respect they command... WOW. i've got my 3rd 5th scale on the way, although it is just a used xtm buggy. love the large scale. :D

1/5, 1/6 is winning. I like brushless 1/8 best. More tracks for this scale, go anywhere, quiet, simple, super cornering abilities, cheaper than nitro 1/8, durable, easy to transport, crazy 35+ ft jumping skills, 30-65mph possible, can drive it at midnight w/leds in front of my house, lots more. Gas 1/5 1/6 is my second choice becuase I can go all day in dirt and grass that on a super hot summer day would overheat a brushless 1/8. And some mild jumps (not 35+ft like 1/8) can be made. I am not sure if I will like a 5t brushless or if it can go all day like the gassers without overheating.

I gotta go with the 1/8 nitro. love the smell, sound and power. I am with Hamster on the massive jumps and agility these vehicles have as well the portability. Another factor is there just are not enough 1/5 owners around my area on a saturday night to put a race together at the track unlike the 1/8 where we can put many heats together. My 1/5 is more of a lets see what it can take vehicle than really serving any purpose. Sure is fun to see what it can take though.

Bingo on the 1/8 nitro. I have a losi 8 buggy and truggy and a HPI Savage X. They are all so quick and easy to control in the air while jumping. My 5th scales on the other hand feel like I am "along for the ride" when jumping. 5th scale is still cool...But the power to weight ration of 8th scale is sick and wrong. One thing 5th scale has is the WOW factor...just because they are so big. I have yet to try brushless...not ready to spend all the money to jump to electric when all my equipment is nitro and gas.

For the cost of one nitro motor I can be set up for brushless but it is still just not the same. Yeah a good LIPO and brushless set up will spank nitro but man it smells so good and the sound gets me too. Fuel is rediculously expensive but it still smells better than electric:D

HA ha...... I am starting to sound like that wierdo in the movie "The Wraith" that snorts WD-40

I hear ya. I am just not a fan of the "gear whine" of electric vehicles. It just does not sound cool. I prefer the sound and yes....smell of nitro. I would not mind having a whoop-ass brussless, but just don't know anything about them. I think I may try to find a use HPI Vorza or something...any suggestions...I just don't know anything about brushless and lipo batts.

Your forgetting something else resale value. The initial startup cost of nitro vs brushless is usually within $100 of each other. But the nitro costs more money everytime you run it and way more $ in maintanence and then when you go sell the nitro its hardly worth anything. Brushless is way cheaper. I was considering converting my 5b to a T then to brushless but Im wondering if A:it can be driven hard all day without overheating B:can the 1/5 driveline handle that much power C:if it cant do all of the things a gas one can than whats the point. Im like you I was HOOKED bad on the 8ight T and B when they first came out and had $1,000 in each. At that point in time there werent brushless conversions at all. You had to make your own and ESC/motor choices were few. The first one I built felt/sounded so weird. I was so used to nitro being king and that is what I had for 1/8. But that one build was all it took. I sold ALL of my nitro stuff and wont go back. Somehow I doubt I would like brushless 1/5 though.
